I got carded this morning.

At Walmart.

Over a bottle of cold medicine.

Why? I can understand getting carded for stuff like alcohol and cigarettes, but cold medicine? Do they expect me go home and get high off of freaking cough syrup? Ugh! That stuff tastes nasty. And if I didn't have a cold, I wouldn't touch it. People are so weird.



Baby brother called me last night...


"Hi, Shawny. Do the kids have a Ford Mustang?"

"A Ford Mustang? You mean... like a Power Wheel?"

"Yeah. I was thinking about getting them one for Christmas."


Wow. Talk about spoiling the kids! It's sweet and very generous of him, but... It's too much!!! Those things are expensive! ($283 on Amazon.com and $249 on Walmart.com) Besides, Talia and Ethan don't need a Power Wheel. I think baby brother is just excited about landing his first full-time job. (He's been working part-time ever since he graduated in April - and the company he's working for finally gave him full-time.) He's finally making decent money. ^_^


I'm off to call my brother. I'm going to try and talk him out of this. Just because he can afford to buy extravagant gifts doesn't mean he should.

I finished all my Christmas shopping! I did a lot of it online. Free shipping is awesome! ^_^


This year, I made Christmas presents for my niece and nephew!


Back in April, I bought some fabric with a very cute Winnie-the-Pooh print. I meant to make a baby blanket for my sister's baby shower... but then my sister decided not to have a baby shower - and I didn't have time to make it anyways. Well... Tyler is already 4 months old. So I decided to make that baby blanket while he's still a baby! (If I kept procrastinating, he'd be too big for the baby blanket. ^^;)

For Kayla, I made a hat, scarf, and mittens set out of fleece. I used a Simplicity pattern for it. It's so cute - especially the paw-print applique on the mittens! (The paw-prints are hand-sewn to the mittens; it took one hour to applique.) Now Talia wants paw-print mittens, too! I promised to make them for her soon. The mittens and hat are fully-lined. In fact, the hat is reversible: pink on one side and white on the other.

It's been a productive weekend. Now all that's left is to wrap all the Christmas presents!

Short Answer: As a general rule, I do not take commissions. But sometimes, I make exceptions.

So... yesterday morning, I had no internet. My DSL modem and router are several years old... and sometimes, they like to disconnect me from the internet without warning. Usually resetting the router and powering down the DSL modem will fix it. But not yesterday. <insert cursing here> Although the darn things started working again by late afternoon...


Anyways, I'm pretty good at procrastinating - if I do say so myself. And instead of writing, sometimes I'll hunt for things to read (interesting news articles, funny YouTube videos, or a decent fanfic - if I can find one) or I'll go lurk on the NaruHina FC on NarutoFan. But since I had no internet... and it was Friday - which meant both kids were in school...


I started working on Ten Defining Moments again. Yay! ^_^
